Honda Africa Twin is Honda’s flagship adventure tourer and gains cosmetic as well as mechanical updates in 2017.

The updated Honda Africa Twin has been introduced in Japan. The motorcycle is set to hit Indian shores around mid-2017.

Powering the 2017 Honda Africa Twin is a 998 cc in-line two-cylinder mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 95 PS of maximum power at 7,500 rpm (an improvement of around 2 PS) and 98 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. A 6-speed DCT (dual clutch automatic) version is also on offer. The Indian market is expected to get the premium DCT version.

In addition to Pearl Glare White, Victory Red and Digital Silver Metallic, the 2017 Honda Africa Twin gains Candy Prominence Red paint option. The bike is now Euro 4 complian and gets switchable rear ABS and multiple mode Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).

The Honda Africa Twin is shod with 310mm dual wave floating hydraulic disc with aluminium hub and radial fit 4-piston callipers and sintered metal pads up front and a 256mm wave hydraulic disc with 2-piston callipers and sintered metal pads in the rear. The bike gets 21-inch wheels in the front to tackle the obstacles and a 150/70 section 18 inch wheel in the rear. Both the tyres are tube types.

The 2017 Honda Africa Twin tips the scales at 232 kg and has a ground clearance of 250 mm. It boasts of a WMTC mode fuel economy of 21.6 km/l. Sales target in Japan for 2017 is 1,300 units.

The Honda Africa Twin starts at JPY 1,350,000 (Rs 423 000) for the base variant and goes up to JPY 1,490,400 (Rs 467 000) for the top end trim with DCT.
