The 2014 Honda Jazz is scheduled to be launched in Japan on September 5. The B+ segment hatch will touchdown with three engine and four gearbox options.
Starting the range is a 1.3-liter iVTEC engine producing 98bhp and 120Nm of torque. This base variant can be had with a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
Moving a level up, Honda will offer a 1.5-liter i-VTEC (power output unknown) with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The same engine with an electric motor go into the Jazz hybrid. With 133bhp and 170Nm of torque, the Jazz Hybrid delivers a claimed 36.4km/l. The hybrid will be available with Honda’s 7-speed i-DCD (intelligent dual-clutch drive) transmission.
We are certain that for India, there will be a diesel engine option in the roster. Honda Cars India would be looking to introduce the new Jazz in the first half of 2014 powered by the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel, returning a mileage of well over 20kpl. Trailing the 2014 Jazz would be a compact SUV (based on the Urban SUV concept shown at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show) later to be joined by the next generation City.
