Lancer becomes a little cleverer

Mitsubishi’s Lancer 2.0 GLS has been boosted with subtle styling improvements and equipment upgrades.

Although mechanicals characteristic of the 2.0 GLS retains, the new model obtains redesigned ten-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels and resurfaced back light clusters (contrasting plain circular lenses with a black base).

Cabin improving includes an enhanced instrument binnacle featuring an integrated LCD centre display for side-line information such as fuel consumption and temperature levels.

Lancer's steering wheel now boasts secondary controls for the audio system and air-conditioning is automated.

From behind the wheel changes to the Lancer’s windscreen may not be at once noticeable, yet it features enhanced sound-deadening - thereby better insulating occupants from road and mechanical noise intrusion.

The rest is standard Lancer. Powering the 2.0 GLS is Mitsubishi’s intake- and exhaust-valve timing assisted 2l MIVEC engine, producing 114kW and 199Nm. Driving the front wheel via a five-speed manual transmission the 2.0 GLS is good for a benchmark 0-100km/h sprint of 9.4 seconds.
