Last week's BlackBerry outage that affected millions of users had at least one positive impact on people that use RIM's services.

According to TheNational, traffic accidents in Dubai dropped 20% from average rate during the three-day BlackBerry outage.

Abu Dhabi, another important city in the UAE has seen almost 40% fall with no fatal accidents whatsoever during the same period.

The numbers come directly from Dubai and Abu Dhabi Police traffic departments officials who stated that many accidents occur because of the use of BlackBerry devices while driving.

The tragic death of UAE's footballer Theyab Amana was also highlighted by the authorities, as the international star was reportedly using a BlackBerry device at the time of the accident.
