Depicted in these supposedly leaked images, BAIC's forthcoming electric supercar is slated to take on rivals from the likes of Faraday Future, Rimac, and Koenigsegg. It's anticipated to be about the same size as a Ferrari 488 GTB, albeit slightly wider and taller. But the real difference will be in the powertrain, precise details of which remain a secret at the moment.
Whatever combination of electric motors and batteries it packs, the electric supercar is anticipated to reach 62 in under 3.0 seconds, top out at over 160 miles per hour, and travel for up to 186 miles on a single charge. It's also tipped to incorporate three driving modes that will alter the car's ride height according to the level of performance dialed in.
Stylistically, we're seeing elements of the BMW i8 and Aston Martin Vulcan up front, a hint of Lotus or Ferrari in the roofline, a bit of McLaren at the back, and Lamborghini-style scissor doors to help give it that exotic flair (and avoid scraping on curbs).
Perhaps best of all, BAIC's supercar is expected to be put into production, not remain a conceptual showpiece. BAIC, for those unfamiliar, is one of China's larger automakers, and currently operates joint ventures with the likes of Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz. We wouldn't assume either is directly involved in this project, however.
