Mad Max Would Be Proud Of Australia's Newest V8 Cop Car
When it comes to crazy cop cars, there’s the Middle East and then every other country in the world.

Of course that doesn’t make this Lexus RC F owned by the New South Wales police department in Australia any less cool. Unfortunately for the blokes at the NSWPD, Dubai’s police force already beat them to the punch when it comes to RC Fs that serve and protect. Still, let’s look at the glass half full. The RC F is perfect for Australia as it’s a rear-wheel-drive two-door with a big V8.

The 5.0-liter V8 of the RC F makes 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission complete with paddle shifters. Now before you start thinking that the cops misused public funds to buy a sports car, know that Lexus actually gifted the coupe to the department. "It gives us great pleasure to provide the NSW Police with a stunning RC F coupe to assist them with their important task of promoting safety on our roads," said Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor. Like most badass police cars the world over, New South Wales won’t use the RC F for actual police work. According to inspector Jim Fryday it’ll be used for promotional work and community engagement.

The RC F will be a major help in our efforts to engage with the public at major gatherings around the state. There will be further opportunities at motorsport events to communicate our message to race fans while showing off the RC F in a very appropriate setting.” Hopefully there isn’t a Mad Max wannabe among the department’s officers, otherwise criminals could be in for a nasty surprise. We'll be hopping in the RC F next month so in a few weeks we'll know whether it would actually make a good cop car.
