Even the company’s home market, Japan, will be sourcing the Baleno from the Manesar plant via CBU route.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited exports its products to 125 countries including European nations, markets in Africa and South America, and Asian countries like the Philippines, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The export version of the Baleno, chiefly the one destined for the European markets, will have a more comprehensive safety package, which will include the radar-based Autonomous Emergency Braking. Further, some export-spec models will be powered by the new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine, while the Indian version will be driven by the familiar 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced DDiS diesel motor.
The 1.2-litre VVT petrol mill produces 84.3 PS maximum power and 115 Nm peak torque, returning a mileage of 21.4 kmpl. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine churns out 75 PS and 190 Nm, and is capable of delivering 27.39 kmpl mileage. Both power plants will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the petrol receives an extra, CVT option.
