The 4×4 Swift will be available only with the 1.2-liter petrol engine which will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The automatic transmission is not being offered. Also, you can only have the Swift 4×4 in the five-door body style.
The 4WD system is a fully automatic and permanent one. It transfers additional torque to the rear wheels only when required via a viscous coupling. Overall, the 4WD Swift weighs a mere 65kg heavier than its 2WD sibling.
CO2 emissions of 126g/km is being claimed for the 4×4 Swift, which is only 10g/km more than the equivalent 2WD version.
There are two variants available: SZ3 or SZ4. Both have their ground clearances increased by an additional 25mm. However, the SZ4 has a few interesting details.
For a start, the SZ4 includes daytime running lights like that seen on the leaked images of the Swift facelift/refresh. It also offers additional protection by adding front and rear skid plates, black colored wheel arch extensions and side skirts. Power folding mirrors are also offered in this trim. In the SZ4 trim, the Swift 4×4 looks like a VW Cross Polo challenger!
The Suzuki Swift 4×4 is priced at £11,516 for SZ3 and £13,116 for the SZ4. As an introductory offer, the Swift 4×4 will be available VAT free until September 30th.
