Mauritius coast 2 coast takes cycling competition to next level
Cycling lovers can saddle up for the cycling competition Mauritius Coast 2 Coast Challenge presented by Falke.

The race, organised by CRA World Events Management, will take place from September 30 to October 2. The three-day race will take place over a 175-km track starting at Savigna and finishing at Beau Plan.

In a press meet organised at Café du Vieux Conseil in Port Louis, Chris Desjardins, events organiser at CRA World Events Management, explained that the idea came by studying major ATV racing marathons of the world, especially the South African challenges such as the Cape Epic and Hill 2 Hill races and the European Trans Alp. “We want the Mauritius Coast 2 Coast Challenge to become the Mauritian Epic, where bikers from all around the world would take part. This is a big challenge but with the experience we have acquired in organising races, along with the beauty of the island, we believe that it is feasible for us to come up with a high standard cycling race at an affordable cost,” added Desjardins.

Bernard Lecourt, member of the CRA World Events Management organising committee, said, “For the race to be accessible and pleasurable to all, this year the chosen track is not as difficult as last year.” South African firm Falke, which specialises in the making of sports socks, and Air Mauritius are the main sponsor of the event.
