Is this the next Pajero? Will it be renamed?

The cars will carry, the automaker says, a new corporate design “that symbolises the sense of security and functionality of an SUV”. The three models will, it’s claimed, "will highlight MMC’s innovative engineering, next-generation advanced technologies that embody the concepts of environmental responsibility, driving pleasure, toughness and safety".

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

The Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV is a next-generation full-size SUV that uses a high-output plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system “with the dynamic drivability of an SUV and class-leading environmental performance”.

It will have all-wheel drive for all-terrain capability, preventive safety technology and driver support technology through wireless connectivity.

The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV is a compact SUV loaded not only with a light and highly efficient PHEV system but also “offers nimble drivability and a body style resembling a sport coupe”.

'RELAXING SPACE'

The third model is the Mitsubishi Concept AR, another compact MPV that has the both the mobility of an SUV and the occupant space of an MPV. Its fuel-efficiency technologies include down-sized, direct-injection, turbocharged engine.

Mitsubishi describes it as "a relaxing space for occupants through its enveloping interior design and range of seat arrangements".

Attempts to contact Mitsubishi SA to find out if the vehicles would appear at the Johannesburg International Motor Show were unsuccessful.
