More than 270 Drivers Ticketed for Smoke from January
The officers of the National Transport Authority (NTA), the Police and the Environment Road Safety Unit (RSU) are on a war footing to pin the offender and some of them hit a driving ban.

Between January of this year and November 12, 276 drivers were caught in the nets of the NTA staff, the police and the Environment RSU.Many of them were driving vehicles with a rate exceeding 70% opacity standard established.

Police fined the Environment alone, 60 offenders. Thirty of these drivers was pinned because the rate of blackening their vehicle was greater than 50%. If the Court confirms their guilt, they face a fine of Rs 1000. For other offenders, the rate was 70% opacity.

The RSU her caught breaking drivers 25 which the vehicle had a higher opacity of over 50%. 61 tickets were given for vehicles with a rate of opacity of 70%.

The number of verbalizations is highest, however, to the credit of the NTA. Officers of the country's roads and intervene as soon as they spot a vehicle smoke. They were fined 130 from January to date.

But their work does not stop there. If the vehicle has a rate of darkening of more than 70% above the standard set, it is struck by an order of non-movement. And the officers of the NTA have the responsibility to check its status. If they are satisfied with the mechanical work is done on the vehicle, the order of prohibition is lifted. Otherwise, the offender is prosecuted.
