Motor Trend's Car of the Year Is a…Muscle Car?
Motor Trend just named its car of the year and it’s a vehicle that, at least for us, came out of left field. The publication named the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro as the winner of the Golden Calipers as Motor Trend’s Car of the Year.

The publication commended the sixth generation of the muscle car for it’s great handling, amazing engines and lighter platform. Motor Trend Editor In Chief Edward Loh praised the Camaro for its abilities. “Our 2016 Car of the Year, the Chevrolet Camaro, is one of the finest driving vehicles in the world at any price,” stated Loh.

What makes this truly unexpected is the company the Camaro beat to earn the award. The competition included performance vehicles such as the Audi TT, Mercedes AMG GT S and Mazda MX-5 Miata. The Camaro even edged out the high-tech BMW 7 Series and Toyota Mirai. Nine judges evaluated the vehicles in six categories: engineering excellence, advancement in design, value, safety, performance of intended function and efficiency. The Camaro joins other winners, which include the Volkswagen Golf from last year and the Cadillac CTS in 2014.
