New regulations in July for vehicles
The new regulations about speed limits for trucks and buses and cars registration plates will come into force on 1 July. However, for all vehicles that are not yet up to standard and could not pass the technical inspection a certificate for a period of six months will be given.

The new regulations suggested by the Ministry of Transportation and Public Infrastructure should have applied already this year. Although some regulations regarding fire pumps and safety belts are already in force on the plates apply later.

It seems that the National Transport Authority (NTA) is not ready to meet the requirements of the authorities in this short period of time. Especially since many drivers are not even aware of these new regulations due to low awareness campaign.

According to the Construction and Use of Motor Vehicle Regulations, there will be changes at the license plates of cars. Normally, numbers and letters are inscribed in white on a black background. The new plates will be standardized with white front and yellow at the rear.

This change occurs because at night, the police are trying to read the plates, with visibility reduced. This adjustment will help speed cameras to better capture the numbers of vehicles.

In addition, motorists will no longer have the right to buy their license plates in shops or customize them according to their taste. Under the new regulations for the manufacture of any new plate, the driver must produce his identity card and its “horse power”.
