We're not quite sure why the new Audi TT doesn't come looking like this new special edition S Line Competition pack as standard, because in this spec the car just looks complete.

OK, so we know Audi rolled it out to make more money, but a car like a TT should leave nothing wanting and only have the RS as a rung above on the spec ladder. Although having an option to be more exclusive than normal when you don't have the bank for the RS is also no bad thing.

What's different? Quite a lot actually. The single frame blade at the front together with the exterior mirror housings, diffuser insert, and fixed rear wing sport a high-gloss black finish, while the tailpipe trims of the exhaust get a complementary black chrome finish. The suspension sees firmer settings and lowers the car by 10 mm. Filling the arches are gloss black five-spoke 19-inch wheels housing red-painted brake calipers. The special edition can be had in glacier white, nano gray, tango red and the new TT color, Ara blue. On the Roaster, the fabric top is black. Inside there are S sport seats with embossed backrests and pneumatically adjustable contoured side supports.

A flat-bottomed S line, 3-spoke sports multifunction steering wheel is also fitted, similar to that in the RS. For tech geeks there's a sport screen where the central tachometer with integral speed display dominates the all-digital instrument cluster. Brushed aluminum is splashed around the cabin and there are a few options for the finish of the seats. The TT S line competition has a 230 hp 2.0 TFSI lump available in front wheel drive or quattro in manual or tiptronic. The package starts at $47,000 on the Coupe while the Roadster will start at $50,000.
