The executive director of ABC Motors Co Ltd, Dean Ah Chuen, said that ABC Motors has driven Nissan’s share to the top spot for 15 years in a row since 1996. He added that a lot of hard work has gone into taking ABC Motors to this position. He said, “The Nissan brand today holds a special place in Mauritius and the motto ‘ene Nissan reste ene Nissan’ has become part of Mauritian folklore.”
He added, “We have been able to adapt to the needs of a rapidly changing market and have introduced new models that answer the demand of that market.”
The cars that ABC Motors intends to showcase in the Mauritian market include the Nissan Leaf.
“Mauritius will be the first country in the African region, Middle East and India to introduce the Nissan Leaf,” he said.
He also stated that the production of the Nissan leaf will happen in September and we do expect to receive the first Leaf before the end of this year. He added that there will be a new service centre constructed at Phoenix. “This centre will help a lot of our Nissan owners who live in the Plaines Wilhems and southern regions as they will no longer have to travel to Port Louis and will not have to suffer through traffic,” he said.
On the other hand, Mike Whitfield, CEO, Nissan Africa Group, stated that this success is also due to the strong relationship between Nissan and ABC over the years.
It is due to this bond that today ABC is among the top distributors.
