Port Louis to Increase Parking Areas
The Municipal Council of Port Louis is planning to add two areas for parking in the capital, one in the south and the other in the north for the convenience of car owners.

Talking to The Independent, lord mayor Mamade Khodabaccus stated that negotiations with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, National Development Unit, Land Transport and Shipping are still going on.

“The parking space will be the same as the one in Caudan, Phase 2. It will be a multi-level parking,” he stated.

He explained the project is part of the municipality’s aim to make a number of streets in Port Louis pedestrian zones, such as La Corderie, Rémy Ollier, La Reine, Leoville L’Homme and Sir William Newton, among others.

“Therefore, necessary arrangement should also be made for parking to allow movement of pedestrians,” added Khodabaccus.
