The current Peugeot 508, unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, is in its first generation. Come 2017, the European D-segment offering will have a complete makeover as it enters its second generation.

The next-gen Peugeot 508 will be a bumper-to-bumper redesigned, appreciably inspired by the striking Peugeot Exalt concept that was first unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show and later with some updates at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. A speculative rendering from L’Automobile previews how the Exalt concept-inspired 508 saloon will possibly look like.

The second generation 2017 Peugeot 508 range will likely be offered in two body styles, saloon and estate, as well as an adventurous RXH variant of the latter with mild off-road capability. This will make the all-new 508 range equally competitive of the VW Passat and Opel Insignia.

The all-new Peugeot 508 will be underpinned by the PSA Peugeot Citroen’s EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) platform. Reports say that it will feature the second generation i-Cockpit – an all-new version of the company’s “innovative driver’s seat concept”. Currently, the idea of making the interior more driver-friendly includes a compact steering wheel, head-up dials, high centre console and touch-screen display for the infotainment system.

The next-gen Peugeot 508 will also feature autonomous driving tech limited to highway-driving and parking. Before the all-new model arrives in 2017, a minor facelift may be given to the current model next year.
