Road Traffic Bill to be introduced in Parliament

A series of measures such as the introduction of the road traffic amendment in the parliament, the setting up of a high level project monitoring and implementation unit to for government’s policies ,recommendation of the ministerial committee on social housing as well as the state visit of Denis Sassou-Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, from 9 to 11 July 2011, among others. The Road traffic amendment bill will be introduced in the national assembly to provide identity checks to ascertain the true ownership of vehicles, the licensing of stand regulators and to ensure that relevant insurance information is supplied to the road transport communications.

New monitoring unit to be implemented

The cabinet also took note of the setting up with immediate effect under the Prime Minister’s Office of a high level project monitoring and implementation unit for executing government policies and projects. The unit would be chaired by the head of the civil service and would comprise of the chairman of Board of Investment(BOI), Maurice Lam, the chief of staff of Prime Minister’s Office(PMO), Kailash Ruhee and the chief of Enterprise Mauritius, Amédée Darga, among others.
