Similar to the Indian model, the Suzuki Ciaz in South Africa is powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine. However, where the Indian model makes 68 kW (91.18 hp), the South African model is tuned to produce 70 kW (93.87 hp). The torque, at 130 Nm, is identical to the Indian model though.
Just like the Indian model, the South African Ciaz too is offered with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Cosmetic changes lie in the interior of the sedan. Where the Indian model is designed to appeal to local tastes with a dual-tone black-and-beige dashboard with a faux-wood insert, beige seats and floor mats, the South African model features an all-black dashboard with black seats and floor mats.
In terms of features, all variants of the Ciaz in South Africa get dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and projector headlights as standard. The GLX is equipped with alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver’s seat height adjuster, a rear sunshade and an engine starter button.
