The special edition of the performance hatchback carries a handful of cosmetic updates that aim to make the car look even sportier. The visually enhanced model was first seen at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2018.
The Suzuki Swift Sport Auto Salon Version features a matte black base paint that comes from the Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle. The front-end is characterised by bright orange highlights on the lip spoiler. The frame of the radiator grille is finished in a satin grey colour.
The side profile of the sporty small car carries exclusive decals, bright orange highlights on the side skirts, 'Sport' branding, bright orange ORVM caps, and five-spoke alloy wheels with gloss black paint finish, with the same paint shade also lavishing the roof. Highlights of the rear include a new bumper with bright orange highlights and a roof-mounted spoiler.
The Suzuki Swift Sport measures 3,890 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. Powering the performance-focused version of the favourite small car is the K14C 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine that outputs a maximum power of 140 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm from 2,500-3,500 rpm. The turbocharged petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission, which spins the front wheels.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd seems to have ruled out the Swift Sport for the local market owing to the weak demand for expensive hatchbacks from non-luxury car manufacturers. That said, the company can mull over a sportier version of the regular Maruti Swift that will share its engine with the Baleno RS.
