Truck and Taxi Crash Kills 12
A head-on collision between a mini bus and truck has killed 12 people in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

A private ambulance service spokesperson said on August 2: "It is believed both vehicles may have crossed the intersection at the wrong time leading to the extensive impact."

One survivor

Only one of the 13 people in the mini bus survived. Ten were killed in the impact but the truck driver was not injured.

Two people sustained critical injuries and paramedics immediately started resuscitation efforts but were unsuccessful. The second was given emergency treatment on the scene then taken to hospital, but died later.

Paramedics said both vehicles were badly damaged.
