Carsensor has posted a sketch of the 2016 Honda Freed, as well as some new details in a report. It is expected to launch in Japan in this September.

The 2016 Honda Freed will pack a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine equipped with direct injection at launch, while a 1.0 Turbo variant will only arrive in 2021, according to Carsensor. This contradicts many reports speculating that the 1.0 Turbo engine will be introduced in the Freed for select markets this year.

Honda will also continue offering hybrid variants of the Honda Freed, which is reported to adopt their new i-DCD dual clutch hybrid system, thus replacing the IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) system in the current model. It combines the 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The next generation Honda Freed will reportedly measure 4,250 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,710 high. The front-end of the next gen Freed features a ‘Solid Wing’ face flanked by sleek headlamps, redesigned bumper with a larger radiator intake, and a reprofiled engine hood. The rear-end gets new taillamps repositioned towards the D-pillar, new bumper design housing vertical reflectors, and a roof spoiler.
