2017 Honda CR-V To Focus More On Technology
In an interview with Go Auto, Honda Australia director Stephen Collins has divulged a few details on the next generation Honda CR-V, which is expected to arrive in 2017.

Collins states that the Honda CR-V will focus on technology, particularly in its powertrain. He said:

I think we are looking at everything. I think engine technology is an important point that we are looking very closely at. We are looking at how can we expand opportunities more into the lower end of the larger SUVs and the seven-seat question comes up. So we are exploring all of those opportunities.

Spyshots of 2017 Honda CR-V test mules reveal a slightly longer body and rear door, suggesting that a third row seating option is more than likely to be offered in countries where the full-size Honda Pilot 7-seater is not sold. Furthermore, the increase in size and a new exterior design will widen the gap between it and the Honda HR-V.

Since it appears to be early in its development cycle, details on its engine lineup are scarce. The new CR-V is likely to source its powertrain from the 2016 Honda Civic, which includes a 2.0-liter VTEC engine and a 1.5-liter turbo VTC engine. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or a CVT option.
