Nissan launched the fifth-gen Nissan Micra in Europe early last year. Now, it has started testing its latest supermini in Thailand, spy shots published by Headlightmag have revealed.

The fifth generation Nissan Micra is underpinned by a revised version of the V-platform. The redesigned model is largely targeted at the European markets. The test mule was a left-hand drive one, and Thai media says that it is possible that Nissan has brought it to Thailand just for R&D work related to the next-gen Nissan Sunny (next-gen Nissan Almera). However, Indian media reports have said that the new Maruti Ciaz rival arriving later this year will ride on the low-cost CMF-A+ platform, and not the V.

The fifth-gen Nissan Micra is 3,999 mm long, 1,743 mm wide and 1,455 mm tall. It is 174 mm longer, 78 mm wider and 55 mm lower than the fourth-gen Nissan Micra. The wheelbase is has grown by 75 mm to 2,525 mm. There are three engine options available: 0.9-litre turbocharged petrol (90PS/140 Nm), 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol (71 PS/95 Nm) and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel (90 PS/220 Nm). All engines are linked to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Noteworthy features of the latest Nissan Micra are, full-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, discrete rear door handles, rear spoiler, automatic climate control, 7-inch NissanConnect touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, 5-inch driver information display, 6-speaker BOSE personal audio system, 360-degree camera, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The latest European Nissan Micra is not an India-bound model. A made-for-India next-gen Nissan Micra will arrive next year instead. It will ride on the lengthened CMF-A+ platform.
