Grillie Takes Customization to the Next Level
Grillie, a car customization company, has come up with the missing link — a cross between a hood ornament and a bumper sticker.

The grille ornaments come in many shapes, including animals and collegiate logos. Pricing starts around $50.

"A fun and distinctive way to put your passion up front while on the road," the company says on its Web site. "Grillies honor the style and creativity of yesteryear's hood ornaments, but with a modern spin."

The idea is similar to the sports car club badges seen on grilles in the 1950s. The product begins as a sculpture in clay and then is cast in metal before being finished in pewter, brass or nickel.

A few colored products like an American flag and collegiate logos from Baylor University and Mississippi State University are also available.

Many of the designs are a product of graduates of the Rhode Island School of Design.

The grille ornament comes with mounting hardware, and an installation video is provided at Grillie.com.
