Honda BR-V Crossover Will Also get a 1.8L Petrol Engine Shared with HR-V – Report
Indonesian website, Autonetmagz, quotes reliable sources in stating that the Honda BR-V crossover, announced to debut at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesian International Motor Show) on August 20, will also be equipped with a 1.8-liter i-VTEC petrol engine in addition to a 1.5-liter unit.

Honda confirmed the latter engine for the BR-V in its press release last month, and stated that it will get two transmission options, predictably a 5-speed manual and a CVT. However, the new report states that a 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine, which is seen under the hoods of the Honda HR-V compact SUV and the Honda Civic sedan will also be offered as a range-topping model.

In the HR-V, this engine delivers 139 PS at 6,500 rpm and 169 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, and is paired to a CVT. The publication states that this engine will satisfy the needs of those customers wanting more power from the BR-V when all its seven seats are occupied.

Further, speculation is rife that the BR-V is based on the Jazz’s platform, and not the Brio’s platform, as reported by the Indian media initially. What is for sure is that the BR-V will not share its dashboard with the Brio-series of cars (Amaze, Mobilio), instead it will have an upmarket interior, as reported by several Indonesian media outlets.
