Renault Maxthon Spied Testing Ahead Of Beijing Debut
The Renault Maxthon (name unconfirmed), successor to the Renault Koleos, has been spied testing on public roads weeks ahead of its debut, courtesy Auto Plus.

It was reported in January that the Renault Maxthon will have its world premiere at Auto China 2016 (2016 Beijing Motor Show) that will take place from 25 April to 4 May. Chinese sales of the brand’s new flagship crossover will commence in November 2016.

Like the Renault Espace, Renault Kadjar and Renault Talisman, the Renault Maxthon will also be based on the CMF–C/d version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF (Common Module Family) platform. Unlike what was speculated for over a year, the Renault Koleos replacement won’t be a 7-seat crossover. Pouring cold water on all those speculations, Laurens van den Acker, Senior Vice President, Corporate Design, Renault Group, confirmed last month that the Renault Maxthon won’t have a 7-seat seating layout.

The Renault Maxthon – spyshots have revealed – will feature the company’s latest design seen on the aforementioned latest models. It will likely have all the new signature features like the Pure Vision full-LED headlights, C-shaped LED daytime running lights and R-Link 2 infotainment system to name a few. The Honda CR-V rival should be offered with petrol and diesel engines with displacements ranging from 1.6- to 2.5-litre globally.
