Brazilian auto website CarPlace.com.br has digitally rendered the next generation Honda City expected to meet production lines next year in Brazil.

CarPlace has extracted the design of the new Honda City from the Honda Concept C presented in Beijing last year (near-production model to be unveiled in Shanghai this weekend). Note that the Concept C may not be a replacement to the City, such plans have not been announced.

Honda has said that the C would eventually reach some Asian markets, but they haven’t announced if it will wear the City badge. In the least, design nuggets from the C may cascade into the new City.

Diving into the details, the successor will continue to use the 1.5 16V engine putting out 116 hp, paired to a manual or automatic five-speed gearbox. This condition may not be applicable for the Indian market as we’d get the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine developed specifically for cars in the B- and C-Segment.

The wheelbase of the new City, according to CarPlace, would be about 2.6m long. The trunk capacity will be close to 500 liters.

The new City, Jazz and Urban SUV are part of the Honda global compact family. It will be sold in emerging and developed markets around the world.

Honda is expecting its compact car range to be a key sales driver. By the end of March 2017, Honda predicts its global sales to reach 6 million units a year of which 1.5 million will come from its compact series.
