Road Safety first of all: awareness campaign focused on the visibility
The NGO “Prévention Routière Avant Tout” (PRAT) is launching an awareness campaign on the importance of visibility on the road, from this July 13. It held its first press conference last Wednesday, July 13, in Port Louis.

" Dan Visibilité ki ena Sekirité" is the theme chosen by PRAT for its awareness campaign on road safety. Moreover, the association PRAT is in its first initiative since its inception in July 2011.

Alain Jeannot , president of PRAT, held to highlight the visibility on the road is a key factor in preventing accidents."You have to see and be seen. It is important to reduce the number of road accident victims, "he says.

Ben Buntipilly, the Prime Minister Special Advisor in road safety, was also present at the press conference. He explained that road safety is a concern of all. Adding that the situation is "worrisome but manageable" in Mauritius.

"I advocate a return to reason and awareness. It is true that we are confident but we need everyone to feel involved. I welcome the initiative of Alain Jeannot to work for road safety, "says Ben Buntipilly.

The inspector of the Traffic Branch Rambursee Unit of the police reminded, for its part, since the beginning of the year, 67 cases of serious accidents have been recorded on our roads and 83 people lost their lives. "A more accident is an accident too many. We are committed to reducing the number of deaths on the roads through the tickets against those who do not meet regulations. "

Grandport Denis, vice president of the PRAT was convinced that the awareness campaign will be very effective. Through ignorance or indifference that Mauritians are reckless on the roads, he believes.

Representatives of the Council of Religions were also present at the press conference. "In order to reach the majority of Mauritians they were invited. Prevention is everyone's business, and the priests can get this message to Mauritius, " says Alain Jeannot.

The monks have made a prayer to start the campaign. 30 bus from the National Transport Company (NTC) will travel with a poster bearing the slogan "Dan Visibility ki ena Sekirite" for ten days. Brochures will be distributed in schools and a series of commitments was drafted by the association.
