Drivers will from Wednesday, July 20, pay their tax taxis, Contract Buses, cars, vans, trucks and other pick up at a post office.

So far, they had to do at the National Transport Authority (NTA). This was announced by the Minister of Transport within Anil Bachoo, Monday, the signing of an agreement between the NTA and Mauritius Post Ltd has agreed to such a request which had been submitted.

And with the introduction in December of last year, regulations allow vehicle owners to pay their license for a period of three years against one year now, it is expected that payment of the statement some 50 000 additional vehicles will be mailed. Those who settle their license for three years get a 25% reduction.

The Minister of Transport pointed out that within the year 2000, there were some 244,000 vehicles and that this figure has now passed 394,000, an 61% increase. "Of the 394 000 vehicles, about 112,000 motorcycles do not pay statement. Before July 2000, vehicle owners should pay statements to the NTA and the body of the courts.

 In December 2001, the Government had made an application mailed to vehicle owners can adjust the statements in the mail.The post office has approved the measure in August 2003 and 1 July 2005 commenced the payment of the statements in the mail.
