Training: Belgian Expertise to Our Drivers

Until 14 June, four experts will train Mauritian instructors at Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD). Minister Anil Bachoo expressed the hope that the MITD put up a special cell to deliver these courses. The Minister of Housing and Lands, Abu Kasenally and Ben Buntipilly, adviser to Prime Minister's Office, explained the importance of safety and good driving on our roads.

Bachoo Minister recalled that the 423,654 vehicles registered at the NTA, 148,641 are cars. He discussed the importance of creating a Driver Education and Testing Centre. He welcomed the initiative of the authorities to open more testing centers and privatize. "Their number is expected to increase by 2014. I also encourage truck drivers to follow the course of five days. It is desirable that all drivers receive such training. The proposed MITD should establish a special unit for this purpose, "he added.
