What Would a MazdaSpeed MX-5 Look Like?
Hopefully a lot like this rendering.

It’s only been a few days since Mazda pulled the sheets off the completely redesigned 2016 MX-5. By nearly all accounts, the fourth-generation roadster looks fantastic and we’re anxious to learn what’s under the hood and its official power output. We can likely expect to see a pair of new direct-injection engines: a 1.5- and 2.0-liter. Expect the latter to be offered in the US while the 1.5 will probably be for other global markets.

But whatever the case turns out to be, we’d love to see an eventual MazdaSpeed MX-5. For those who don’t recall, back in 2004 Mazda launched a turbocharged MazdaSpeed MX-5. It only lasted for two model years and just under 5,500 examples were built. The outgoing third-gen MX-5 never received the MazdaSpeed treatment. So what about the new MX-5? What would it look like with an OEM body kit and lowered suspension? These latest renderings from X-Tomi Design provide the first clue. We think this looks great and it’d be a shame if Mazda didn’t go ahead with this.
