1397 drivers were fined during operation “Dragnet”
Operation “Dragnet” to verify the coordination of different police units and their effectiveness in the field has been successful. This operation was launched Friday at 6am and ended Saturday 6am. In fact 6790 cars was checked, 1397 drivers were ticketed for various offenses.

This operation was placed under the direct supervision of Police Commissioner Dhun Ishwar Rampersad. Mostly “Dragnet” was planned to hold those who broke the road rule and shops that stay open after the permitted hours, monitor the movements of offenders, crackdown against the operators' maroon taxi, or to arrest people who are being wanted by police. Totally 226 people have been arrested by various police units. Among there were 201 people which was the subject of an arrest warrant, 16 drivers were sentenced to a fine, positive test for alcohol.
