Colas Mauritius is operating in this project, which cost is approximate around Rs 225 million. This project, extending highway over a distance of 5.4 km, includes the construction of five roundabouts and a bridge. The first step is to build a road of 1.3 km from Solitude to Grind St Andrew, followed by a secondary road of 2.4 kilometres from St Andrew's Severance Bonair Road. Finally, the project is supposed to link Highway Bonair and Fond du Sac, which is 1.8 kilometre.
This work has been a little delayed. Actually, it had been to complete in August 2010. This postponement is mainly due to bad weather.
The new road goal is to unload the main road of Triolet. This part of the country is known for heavy traffic. The Triolet Bypass would significantly save the time of drivers who is travelling in the Northeast region, especially in Grand Baie, Trou aux Biches, Péreybère, Cape Unhappy, Fond du Sac, and also in the reverse.
Traffic jams have always been a major headache for the government. Moreover, the state has undertaken numerous infrastructure projects to address this problem. Adding up, about 351,406 vehicles was on Mauritius roads in 2008.
