NCG helps ship stuck in reefs
Monday, the National Coast Guard (NCG) undertook a risky operation close to Roches Noires to provide help to MV Angel 1, a Panamanian ship. The ship was faced with difficulties near the coral barriers situated to the north of the island.

According to information, the captain said that the engine of the ship broke down on Saturday. The ship was unable to continue its journey and the rough sea projected MV Angel 1 on to the coral reefs.

The personnel on board informed the NCG headquarters about their situation and solicited help. The ship was unable to move, owing to its deficient engine as well as the low tide.

The ship captain has stated to the Mauritian authorities that he has informed his ship owner about the breakdown. The latter has made arrangements to send experts needed to repair the engine.

The first aim of the NCG is to prevent oil spillage.
