That's a lot of juice. To put it all down, the B5 Biturbo utilizes a host of BMW tricks: xDrive AWD is paired with BMW's Integral Active Steering rear axle, for better traction and agility.
The transmission is a tweaked version of the ZF 8-speed automatic used in the 5 Series, and uses Connected Shift – a system that takes GPS data into account for what Alpina calls "anticipatory shifting." Handling is assisted by rear-axle air suspension and Alpina-specific tuning of the electronically adjustable dampers. The B5 rides on 20-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires specifically designed for the application.
It also looks like an Alpina. The trademark multi-spoke wheels are present, as are distinctive Alpina badging and pinstriping. Inside, there's a lot of the traditional Alpina blue – on the gauge faces, in particular. The materials are also top-notch, including some Alpina wood inlays (choose from myrtle or walnut, among other options). The B5 Biturbo is also available in both sedan and wagon form, for some extra choice in how and what you'd like to haul (and haul quickly). Because this thing isn't slow. The sedan can hit 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, and the wagon isn't far behind.
