AMAE , Manoj Rajkoomar (Secretary): "The Introduction of Penalty Points is Premature"
Manoj Rajkoomar, secretary of the Association of Instructors Driving School (AMAE), believes that the entry into force of penalty points is premature. At a press conference Thursday at the Saint Georges Hotel, Port Louis, he claimed that his application is done gradually.

Joining the Front Commun Syndicat du Transport (SCC), Mr. Rajkoomar believes that offenses relating to parking, plates, seat belt, speeding and mobile phone use while driving must be punished.

"We must wait until the roads are ready and that Mauritians are used to the system," he says. " Fode pa ki permi à point vinn kouma enn bazarr," said the secretary, who recalled in the wake of the educational aspect of penalty points, which aims to allow drivers to change their driving behavior. "This is a good initiative but poor implementation", he concedes. Hence the importance, he said, a gradual entry into force. For him, education of drivers is paramount. In a second part, he mentioned the license "illegal" issued to date. And argue that "6000 Permits are not saved ...". Manoj Rajkoomar has also argued that "these figures were discovered during the current distribution of Driving Licence Counterpart (DLC) in alphabetical order." Our interlocutor said that the DLC should be produced in Court. " Pa trouv linportans, amen DLC partou ek nou, li kapav koz ditor sofer-la ek ogmant koripsion," he insists. The AMAE deplores the lack of communication between the police and drivers about it.
