Drain, Road Works in Black River to Finish by Year End
The construction of roads and drains has been initiated in 2009 in the Black River district but works for similar projects in the three villages of the district, Raoul Lamarque, La Gaulette and Cotteau Raffin started in 2012 and will be completed at the end of this year itself.

That was the reply given by the Local Government and Outer Islands minister Hervé Aimée in reply to a question from Marie Josique Radegonde, MP of the Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Pressed for details about the cost and the successful bidder, Aimée added that “the contract regarding the construction of roads, drains and gutters in Raoul Lamarque has been awarded to Super Builders Company. The cost of the project is Rs 8 million.”

With regard to the region of La Gaulette and Cotteau Raffin, he stated, “The contract for the construction of roads and drains at La Gaulette and Cotteau Raffin was again awarded to Super Builders Company, but this time at a cost of Rs 3 million.”

In reply to supplementary questions about the start and completion dates of the project, Aimée said that the works at Raoul Lamarque will start in mid July and are
expected to be completed in November 2012, whereas those of La Gaulette and Cotteau Raffin started in the first week of May 2012 and will be completed in the first week of November 2012.
