They closely escaped death. Eighteen workers were injured late in the night of Friday, March 11 in the collapse of scaffolding while pouring concrete on a bridge under construction on the site of the “ring road” Straws. It was around 9:00 p.m. when the accident occurred, dropping these workers from a dozen meters to the ground.
Employees within firms Colas, RehmGrinaker Premix and the other wounded were taken from a heap of scrap metal, concrete and other debris to be sent to the Apollo-Bramwell Hospital for emergency care.
Almost all the injured were subjected to radiological examination to determine if they have suffered fractures. According to a witness of the accident, Hugo Returned, colleagues of the injured had to use grinders -"grinders"- to cut the scrap that held some workers trapped in the debris. In the evening yesterday, the site was temporarily closed to determine the cause of the accident.
