Hyundai has already confirmed that the Genesis EQ900 will launch in December, and the international version, the Genesis G90, will launch globally next year.
The full-size luxury sedan is, according to Hyundai Vice Chairman Yang Woong-chul, the “most advanced full-size luxury sedan that will set a new paradigm for the segment”. Genesis is Hyundai’s answer to brands like Infiniti and Lexus, which are respective spin-offs from Nissan and Toyota.
The Genesis G90/Genesis EQ900 features an all new design that appears to draw influence from the Hyundai Vision G Coupe unveiled at Pebble Beach this year. Hyundai states the 51.7 % of the G90’s is made of advanced high-strength steel, which is 10 percent lighter and twice as strong as normal steel.
The interior of the Genesis G90 will feature modern ERGO seats, and will be equipped with features like semi-autonomous HDA (Highway Driving Assist), DAA (Driver attention Alert), ASD (Active Sound Design) and HVCS (Hyundai Variable Control Suspension).
Engine lineup is confirmed to include a 3.8 Lambda V6 GDi with 334 hp and 40.3 kg.m, 3.3 Lambda V6 Turbo GDi with 370 hp and 52 kg.m, and a range-topping 5.0 Tau V8 GDi with 425 hp and 53 kg.m. All variants are paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and gets the HTRAC AWD system as standard.
