This Honda Insight Was Stripped Naked And Given A Subaru Flat-Six

The Honda Insight was a not a very good Toyota Prius clone. Very few, if any, of us were disappointed when Honda ultimately dropped it back in 2014. But a group of university students at Georgia Tech have managed to find a way to make the Insight relevant – by turning it into a race car. Screw the Insight's hybrid past. This wrecked Insight has ditched the original 1.0-liter three-cylinder and batteries for a 3.3-liter flat-six from the long gone but not forgotten and wonderfully weird Subaru SVX.

YouTuber ThatDudeInBlue has managed to get behind the wheel of this flat-six-powered, stripped to the bones Insight, and it's now ridiculously fast. Literally everything from the original car is gone, including the front and rear glass, most body panels, and the entire interior.

In order to handle the far more powerful engine, the students built a custom subframe reinforced by an old Ford Crown Victoria front suspension, and a custom made pushrod suspension out back. The final result doesn't really look like much of anything, other than a nearly naked body, frame and exposed engine. It's the best use of a Honda Insight we've ever seen.
