A new highway between New France and Souillac

The aim is to allow motorists to save time and reduce the volume of traffic on the existing road network.

The Road Development Authority (RDA) has launched calls for tender for a consulting firm which will conduct feasibility studies for this highway. If the project goes ahead, the firm selected will also draw on the technical details and oversee the work. The highway designed by the RDA should avoid surrounding villages to be a real time savings for motorists. 

It should be an extension of the existing motorway linking the north to the airport via Port Louis, Curepipe, La Vigie, and New France among others. The highway between New France and Souillac should also be connected to the main roads of the South. 

The RDA in sight development in general, whether in business, trade, tourism and other productive sectors of the economy. This is offering an alternative quickly route in the south. 

The reduction in travel time, cost, vehicle operating and maintenance costs of the road network is among the other main objectives of the RDA. It is always possible that the GDR does not go ahead with the project after receiving the feasibility studies.
