Newly Appointed SP Arrested for Forgery
The newly promoted superintendent of police, Navin Kumar Bhantoa was arrested on Tuesday by officers of the Central Criminal Investigation Division (CCID) in an alleged case of forgery.

He was presented at the District Court of Port Louis under a temporary charge of forgery, but got bail.

An inquiry is underway regarding the kilometres he travelled in his office vehicle and amount he claimed he paid for it. The figures do not tally. He was interrogated for over an hour by officers of ACP Pregarsen Vuddamaly. The officer had allegedly claimed he paid more than Rs 60,000 worth of gas and wanted refund for it.

In a separate enquiry, chief inspector Hector Tuyau is being investigated by the CCID over his whereabouts and work schedule.
