Public Infrastructure: New Interchange for Several Billion Rupees in Phoenix
We must think big. Roundabouts in Phoenix, Jumbo and Highlands will soon be replaced by a large heat exchanger.

A statement that should please the people of Valentina and Petit-Camp. These have slowed to make a big detour to go and leave their homes since the construction of a third lane on the roundabout in Phoenix, three weeks ago. Not to mention all those motorists who have to take their troubles patiently in endless traffic jams in these places.

This new project of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Transport still requires an investment of "several billion rupees," suggests an official of the ministry. However, this project is not scheduled for tomorrow. Work should start that within two or three years. "This project will be a first in the Indian Ocean," says the official.

Until this interchange, the people of Valentina and Petit-Camp will do with the solution provided temporary in their daily hassles. The engineers of the Traffic Management & Road Safety Unit (TMRSU) and the Road Development Authority (RDA) plan a raid on the scene this weekend. They floor the necessary arrangements so that local residents can take a shorter route. For now, no question of reopening the road passing through the river to join the roundabout of Phoenix.

Meanwhile, Valentina and Petit Camp, there is still furious. A meeting was held Tuesday between fifty inhabitants and the Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) Patrick Assirvaden elected labour in the constituency. The tension was palpable. Then, a meeting was held on Wednesday between the Minister Anil Bachoo and eight emissaries of the area who expressed their grievances. However, the Minister has not agreed to a request from residents to reopen the access road. Residents then asked the deputy of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), Rafick Sorefan, other elected in the constituency, demanding support for their approach.
