Roads: Direct Route To North Starts In Two Weeks
Rs 150 million. This is the cost of two road projects planned at the entrance to the capital. The Road Development Authority (RDA) has given the green light to the first, which is expected to start this month.

There is a third way to Port Louis from Kovil located next to the Caudan flyover. To drivers going north, it will continue until the Postal Museum.

This aims to make the road traffic at the Place d'Armes more fluid. At a cost of Rs 74 million, the work, which includes the construction of a bridge should last ten months.

The second phase will involve the construction of a road for vehicles leaving the capital. This new section will extend approximately one kilometer from the Place d'Armes, where the angle is the fast food Mc Donald, and Caudan flyover. The new route will run along from start to finish these two ways out of the city.

Work should begin in January and last ten months, says a spokesperson of the RDA. He says they will not cause any major disruption of traffic in the area.

On the other hand, the authorities seem to shelve the proposed pedestrian underpass at the Place d'Armes. The idea was to eliminate surface pedestrian crossings to improve traffic flow of vehicles. According to our cross, the RDA should write a report to publicize its new position on the underpass.
