The New Toyota Corolla Will Look As Exciting As The Concept
Multiple takes on the Corolla will be available, from powertrain to sportiness.

An image of the next-generation Toyota Corolla has escaped into the wild, and it appears to be as sharply styled as the concept shown last year. As first noted by Carscoops, Toyota and Japan’s sole public media organization, NHK, have given us a new teaser of the new Corolla through a documentary series released in Japan. The image appears after Toyota staff members are seen watching a future vehicle presentation, but unfortunately for us, they saw the real design, while we’re left with a blurry silhouette. Still, this vague image appears to mirror the concept, suggesting a more exciting look for the new model, which will come in several flavors.

New Toyota Corolla Looks Like The Concept Toned Down

The wedge-like shape of the teaser is the same as that of the concept, and we can see the same angular recesses in the lower door skins through the blurriness. The glasshouse shape is also mimicked, with the area behind the wing mirror creating a recess that helps make the car look lower and longer. The front overhang is short, and at the back, the roof tapers into the tailgate. It also looks like the concept’s narrow taillights will carry over, though the charge indicator behind the front fender appears to have been scrapped. We also can’t tell if there’s a glass roof panel on the teased sedan. Overall, it looks like the next Corolla will be even less bland than today’s, and that will be reflected in the variety that will be offered. Hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric versions of the Corolla are expected to be available, and a next-gen GR Corolla is also expected to reach dealerships later on. That said, it’s unclear if the new Corolla will also be offered as a traditional hatchback or if this new fastback-like sedan will serve both sets of buyers.
