Transport unions: demonstration planned against the penalty points
Wind of revolt against the penalty points from drivers breath transit and other professional drivers. They decided to unite to show their displeasure.

The Common Front of the union of multi-transport unions transportation companies in collaboration with the Taxi Proprietors Union and representatives of truckers meets on Thursday to decide what to do.

In a statement to Le Matinal, Rafick Bahadoor, chairman of the Taxi Proprietors Union, recalls that 15 days was set in an earlier press conference to find a solution with the stakeholders including the Ministry of Public Infrastructure. He said that for now nothing has transpired on the side of the Department that the letters were addressed to the department and even the Prime Minister. He recalled that the bus drivers, taxis, vans of goods and those carrying the schoolchildren and the truckers will be heard. Rafick Bahadoor said that the union did not reach that far, but since their request was ignored, they find themselves obliged to respond. "We want to open a discussion about this but the department has shown no interest," said he.

The President of the Union Taxi Proprietors said the demerit point is detrimental to professional drivers as they are on the road all day. It recommends that the authorities pay special attention to professional drivers, which he should not have the same number of points.

Chotoye Yusuf, chairman of the Joint Trade Union Front of Transportation has, meanwhile, recalled that this meeting will certainly be decisive and could lead to an event.
