World’s First Titanium Supercar Is a Naked Masterpiece

he latest version of the Vulcano, which first debuted back in 2013, looks much closer to something that could enter production. Dubbed the Vulcano Titanium, it boasts a fully functional interior, the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the C6 Corvette ZR1, while it’s sleek, unpainted body, has been crafted from titanium and carbon fiber.

Most of the titanium panels were worked using traditional coachbuilding methods, hammered by hand without the need for welds or heating. Former Bertone designer Samual Chuffart is responsible for the Vulcano’s look, while former Scuderia Ferrari engineer Claudio Lombardi handled the engineering work.

That included modifying the ZR1’s suspension for the Icona supercar and installing a six-speed sequential gearbox from Italy’s Automac Modena. Icona claims a 0-100 km/h time of 2.8 seconds, a 8.6-second quarter mile and top speed of 355 km/h. Power is rated at 670 hp, but that can be dialed up to over 1,000 hp if so desired. If the Vulcano does get the production green light, expect a very limited run coupled with an eye-watering price tag.
