Speaking to the CarAdvice, Neil McDonald, Group Public Relations Manager, Honda Australia, said that the Honda WR-V won't be launched in the region. Mr. McDonald said that the WR-V is a South America-only vehicle and designed and engineered specifically for that region. However, Indian media reported that the WR-V will be launched in India, more specifically in March 2017.
Internally referred to as the 'Honda 2FM', the Honda WR-V has been developed by Honda's R&D team in Brazil. The WR-V is based on the Honda Jazz but has its own identity, as seen in the official rendering above. It will be powered by the Jazz's 1.5-litre FlexOne engine, which will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission.
The Honda WR-V will go on sale in Brazil by early 2017. In India, the Fiat Urban Cross rival will be available with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines of the Jazz.
