Ineos Grenadier Receives First Limited Edition, Grenadier 1924 Celebrates Fashion

The Ineos Grenadier off-road utility vehicle is designed and produced by Ineos Automotive – a modern spiritual replacement of the iconic Land Rover Defender, the original, not the L663 luxury SUV. As such, it looks like a copycat – or a restomod, if we can borrow the term to use it loosely. It has boxy bodywork, a steel ladder chassis, beam axles with long-travel suspension, and a BMW engine under the hood, just like some Land Rover models.

Only that it’s not the V8 but rather Bavaria’s iconic BMW B58 inline-six turbocharged engines. Ineos Grenadier and its parent company is, of course, the brainchild of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of the multinational chemicals company Ineos. In production since late 2022, the Grenadier has evolved as the Grenadier Quartermaster, a four-door pickup version, and it already has a derivative called Ineos Fusilier, which is smaller and looks like a shrunken Mercedes-Benz G-Class with electric power under the hood.

Now, after going through all the regular stages of a normal automobile – including recalls – the Ineos Grenadier off-road SUV embarks on the first journey of limited-edition models. The inaugural special series is called Grenadier 1924 and was devised to “celebrate the first 100 years of iconic clothing brand Belstaff.” Obviously, it will be limited to just 1,924 examples, and all feature a bold contrasting color palette of Magic Mushroom and Inky Black, complemented by gloss black diamond-cut 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, plus an exclusive leather trim and various Belstaff centenary badges.

The reason why Ineos brings a tribute to a fashion icon like Belstaff is simple – the Grenadier and the clothing brand founded in 1924 by Eli Belovitch and his son-in-law Harry Grosberg in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, share the same parent – namely the overarching Ineos multinational conglomerate. “Style that lasts a century deserves to be celebrated, and the Grenadier 1924 is both great looking and a seriously assured drive. Belstaff has been trusted by generations of bikers, sportspeople, and trendsetters, so we know we're in good company,” further explains Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos Automotive.

Distributed worldwide starting later this year during the summer season, the Ineos Grenadier 1924 will be available beginning June 26, 2024, in just 1,924 examples based on the top Fieldmaster package. As such, it comes with flourishes like a dark green finish on the dashboard, center stack, overhead console, switchgear, and door cards, as well as a black saddle leather trim on the steering wheel, handbrake grip, and passenger grab handle, all complemented or contrasted by a dark gray headliner. The first public apparition of the Grenadier 1924 is programmed for May 24-28 in Stoke-on-Trent, Belstaff’s home city.
